     Holly Forkner disappears. Upland, Arizona Chief of Police Troy Forkner, Holly’s husband, scours the wilderness of northern Arizona, first by air then on the ground, looking for her. Officer Nina Miller believes the perpetrator had an accomplice who may be hiding Holly in a motor home at the Upland reservoir. Nina’s partner, Rookie Officer Pike Tso, a Navajo Indian, believes Navajo spirits or skinwalkers may have abducted Holly. Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Justman takes advantage of the situation by sending a ransom note and implicating a loner Indian in Holly’s disappearance. Meanwhile, J.C. Forkner, Troy’s brother, is once again involved in a pool game wagering something substantial.

Duane's "A Rookie's Guide to" books set the standard for pool table maintenance and repair, so I jumped at the chance to read Coyote Stands. I'm glad I did.

I had an opportunity to read Duane's first novel "Last Chance" and loved it. "Coyote Stands" builds on that and is even better. I can't wait for Duane's third novel.
